Ekta Kapoor finds actor Siddharth Gupta 'cute'

Ekta Kapoor and Siddharth Gupta
The latest B-town entrant, Siddharth Gupta who is debuting with Balaji’s Kuku Mathur Ki Jhand Ho Gayi seems to have charmed Ekta Kapoor both with his boyish good looks and acting histrionics. Revealing this to us was Ekta herself. “I had seen Siddharth once when he was with his brother Vikas Gupta (Programming head of MTV) but then that was years ago and Siddharth was just a kid then. He then went off to Dubai for some time. I actually really saw him in an audition tape and I was like, ‘What a cute boy!’ I then told Vikas that there is this guy who looks like he is your brother and Vikas said that it is his brother Siddharth,” reveals Ekta Now to please television’s czarina Ekta is one tough ask and Siddharth certainly seems to have achieved the impossible. And if Siddharth’s good looks helped him initially, it is finally his acting talent that helped him win brownie points. Praising his flexible acting, Ekta says, “Siddharth is innocent and sweet and at the same time when he has do something that is naughty, he can be extremely naughty. I think he is very relatable and that gives him the edge.” Talking about the film and its quirky title in particular, Ekta adds, “I asked folks in my office to come up with a title. When I heard this name Kuku Mathur Ki Jhand Ho Gayi, I was like Aah! This is really cool. You see everyone has a Delhi friend who uses this word Jhand. So I liked the name and we planned to use it.” Of late, Ekta and her company Balaji have been focusing on giving fresh talent a break in the industry. Revealing the intention behind the same, Ekta says, “At least every year, we try to make one film with either a new actor or director and I also try to sign a three-film deal with them so that we can retain the talent.” Ekta however refuses to give herself any credit for having turned shoe-string budgeted movies into commercial blockbusters. “I won’t say that I have cracked the formula of turning low budget movies into commercial superhits. I try to make films that work so that I can make more films.” Well, Ekta after having given Sunny Leone’s career a shot in the arm with Ragini MMS 2, we think you deserve to give yourself a little more credit. But we like your modesty though.
