What the west can do, we can do better. This certainly seems to be the mantra of Bollywood stars, many of whom have already accepted the challenge and are exhorting their industry friends to try out the same.
For the uninitiated, the #IceBucketChallenge is aimed at raising awareness about Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) which is neuro-degenerative and is also known as motor neurone disease (MND), or Lou Gehrig's disease in the US.
So all one has to do is empty a bucket full of ice water on oneself, record the act and post the video on the Internet. Post that they have to nominate three others, who have 24 hours to take it up or else, will have to donate $100 to any charity working for neurodegenerative disorders.
So the first one in India to accept the challenge was Sania Mirza who after successfully posting the video threw the gauntlet to Riteish Deshmukh who became the first Bollywood star to accept the challenge. Riteish soon invited his friends Abhishek Bachchan, Pulkit Samrat, Ashish Chowdhry, Sidharth Malhotra and Akshay Kumar to try the icy challenge.
Among the ones in Bollywood who have already successfully completed the challenge include Bipasha Basu and Hansika Motwani. Bipasha was seen asking her friend Raj Kundra to take the challenge.
Well, the Ice Bucket Challenge has definitely caught the imagination of Bollywood.
Wonder if our politicians would like to try out the same like their American counterparts. The fever has also gripped many Hollywood celebs and sports icons.
