Initially, I was scared of Ekta Kapoor - Siddharth Gupta

Siddharth Gupta
Siddharth Gupta is quite the charmer. The actor was the cynosure of Ekta Kapoor’s attention at a recent event. Ekta even told us that she found Siddharth 'cute' after watching his audition tape. But ask Siddharth about Ekta and it's all respect and a little fear that flows out. Quiz him on his first reaction after meeting Ekta Kapoor, Siddharth says, “Well, I was a bit scared because Ekta comes across as very intimidating,” says the young lad. But the scariness didn't prevail for a long time. As time passed, Siddharth impressed Ekta with his acting skills and after watching the first rushes of the movie she even complimented Siddharth for his performance. Though a newcomer in Bollywood, Siddharth is not a novice for he has acted in plays not just in India but also in Dubai where he lived for a major part of his life. Says Siddharth, "I graduated in computer science from Dubai. Here apart from studies, I was deeply into acting as well. I used to do acting just to pass time in Dubai. By the time I was 21, I started directing plays too." The lad then packed his bags and arrived in Mumbai to chase his Bollywood dreams. "I gave myself a six month window. Once I was here, I religiously focused on plays and started acting in them. Luckily, Ekta Kapoor attended one of my plays and I think that is where she ended up noticing me," narrated Siddharth. Talking about his role in the movie, Kuku Mathur Ki Jhand Ho Gayi, Siddharth says, "I play the central character Kuku Mathur who is an innocent guy from Delhi. His mom passes away when he is young. The one thing that he is good at is cooking. He is an excellent cook. On the flip side, whenever he does anything, he ends up on the losing side. Also, not helping matters is his bad luck. A combination of bad luck and gullibility turns everything into a jhand for him." As for now, Siddharth has signed a three film deal with Balaji. Ask him what acting means to him, Siddharth says, "Acting for me is not about becoming a star. It is not about money too. It's my passion." We are sure with that thought Siddharth will surely go a long way in Bollywood.
