There's finally some relief for estranged couple, Karisma Kapoor and Sunjay Kapur, as they are finally divorced, following a lengthy legal battle, a leading news site has stated.
The pair, who reached an amicable decision over financial matters, settled the divorce proceedings in a mature manner.
According to the agreement, their children Samaira and Kiaan, will be with the actor, while Sunjay would get visitation right.
There was much speculation in the divorce saga, which had gone for a huge toss when Karisma filed a dowry harassment case against Sunjay.
Since the couple is divorced with mutual consent, Karisma withdrew the domestic violence case.
The SC had also quashed a dowry case lodged by the actor against her husband Sunjay and mother-in-law Rani.
Karisma and Sunjay, who tied the knot in 2003, had initially filed for divorce via mutual consent. But Karisma later withdrew her consent from the divorce petition stating that her estranged husband had failed to meet his financial commitments.
The saga took another drastic turn when Saunjay filed a fresh petition against Karisma accusing her of marrying him for money. He also further mentioned that his former wife had failed as a mother and wife and had deliberately kept their children, Samaira and Kiaan, away from his ailing father.
The children, whose custody was in the midst of this battle, were said to be used as pawns by Karisma, according to Sunjay. Well, all that drama has finally come to an end.
The two tied the knot in September 2003 and have two children together. While Karisma was allegedly on a rebound from ex-fiancé Abhishek Bachchan, Sunjay was earlier married to designer Nandita Mahtani.
