MUMBAI: In a traumatic turn of events, Malaika Arora and Amrita Arora’s father Anil Mehta has died by suicide. Malaika’s ex-husband Arbaaz Khan rushed to the actress’s residence to offer condolences to the family.

In the post, it says, "WE ARE DEEPLY SADDENED TO ANNOUNCE THE PASSING OF OUR DEAR FATHER, ANIL MEHTA. HE WAS A GENTLE SOUL, A DEVOTED GRANDEATHER, A LOVING HUSBAND, AND OUR BEST FRIEND. OUR FAMILY IS IN DEEP SHOCK BY THIS LOSS, AND WE KINDLY REQUEST PRIVACY FROM THE MEDIA AND WELL-WISHERS DURING THIS DIFFICULT TIME. WE APPRECIATE YOUR UNDERSTANDING, SUPPORT, AND RESPECT.

Malaika had once revealed that her parents got separated when she was just 11 years old. She had said, “ I had a wonderful childhood, but it wasn’t easy. In fact, in retrospect, the word I would use to describe it is tumultuous. But tough times teach you important lessons too.”
The actress further added, “My parents’ separation allowed me to observe my mother through a new and unique lens. I learned a rock-steady work ethic and the value of getting up each morning to do whatever it takes to become fiercely independent. Those early lessons are the cornerstones of my life and professional journey. I am still fiercely independent; I value my freedom and live life on my terms.”
