Mumbai traffic police ropes in Akshay Kumar to be face of its campaign against biking without helmets

Akshay Kumar
Following the invitation to police officers to train in his personal gym, the Mumbai Police, in a move, has asked Akshay Kumar to be the face of its campaign to encourage people to ride safely. Averred the Rowdy Rathore actor, “Stars are considered icons. So we should all be socially responsible. Though actors really aren’t qualified to preach but we do have a sense of humanity; all of us do. If we can make something better, we try to.” Particularly talking about the need to wear a helmet the Boss actor observed, “A lot of people wear a helmet not to save their lives many wear it so that cops don’t pull them out. I see youngsters riding recklessly and personally feel like telling them that it’s not cool.” Akshay himself loves bikes. He only rides one when he drops his son to school or when he takes his wife for an ice cream treat. All said and done, it’s not about who is campaigning for this serious and dangerous offence, it’s the lack of punishment that makes them think they can get away with it. We too profess that all should wear helmets while riding bikes.
