MUMBAI: Veteran actor Prem Chopra is now recovering at home after spending a week under medical observation at Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai, bringing relief to fans and the film fraternity.
The 92-year-old star had been admitted due to chest congestion combined with a viral and lung infection, along with age-related health complications that required close monitoring.
Throughout his hospital stay, Chopra was cared for by cardiologist Dr Nitin Gokhale and renowned pulmonologist Dr Jalil Parkar.
Contrary to circulating concerns, he was never shifted to the ICU but remained in a regular ward, where doctors kept a close watch on his condition.
Dr Parkar emphasised that recovery at such an advanced age naturally takes more time, stating that Chopra has a “known cardiac ailment” and was also battling a viral infection, but his progress remained steady throughout.

The most reassuring update came from Chopra’s son-in-law, actor Vikas Bhalla, who confirmed, “He is back home and is doing hale and hearty.”
The family, while grateful for the outpouring of good wishes, has requested privacy as the veteran actor continues his recovery in the comfort of his home.
Prem Chopra’s health has been of significant public interest in recent years, given his age and iconic legacy spanning decades in Indian cinema.
His return home marks a positive turn, and fans across generations are relieved to see the legendary actor on the path to regaining strength.
