The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) effect, has not only affected big wigs in politics, but has turned a source of inspiration to filmmakers.
Such is the case with producer Rajita Sharma and director Vivek Budakoti whose film Pied Piper is ready for a national release.
The film, that has Rajpal Yadav in the lead, is the story of a washer man who becomes the leader to millions of people with the fact that he has no assets to declare, he is clear in his thought and doesn't mind calling an ass an ass!
“Who else can essay the common man better than Rajpal Yadav who with his common man looks and humble background has risen to become one of Bollywood's cherished actors,” claimed Rajita.
It is said that the recent wake of the AAP has a startling resemblance to Budakoti's film based on a common man who suddenly becomes the Pied Piper of the entire nation with his simplistic views and his grass root approach despite the ambiguity on consensus by his critiques.
Dismissing that his film had been inspired by the sudden popularity of the AAP, Budakoti said, "We conceived and wrote the film before the emergence of Aam Aadmi Party as a creative critique of a democratic circus on display in the current scenario of the country. If you must, then you can find a Kejirwal in my film just like you could find a Martin Luther King or a Mahatma Gandhi in a different avtaar but please carry your sense of humor along.”
Here it may be noted that Pied Piper has traveled across the globe and has over 11 prestigious Festival selections. It has won the best film award at the recent Delhi International Film Festival.
