MUMBAI: On the occasion of Celebrate Cinema 2025, Whistling Woods International hosted a special panel discussion featuring Ranbir Kapoor, Subhash Ghai, and Rahul Rawail, marking the launch of the memorabilia exhibition of the Lehendary Raj Kapoor  and Kaavya Chaaya of Guru Dutt, curated by the Tuli Research Centre for India Studies (TRIS).

In a lighthearted moment, Ranbir expressed his desire to teach acting someday, jokingly telling Meghna Ghai, “If you give me a signing, I’d love to stay back and teach!”

The actor spoke candidly about his family’s cinematic legacy, acknowledging both the privilege and the pressure that come with it. “People think it’s easy when you come from a film family, but we’ve had as many failures as successes. It’s not easy being who I am. I’ve had to carve my own niche if I have to be taken seriously,” he said.

After the discussion, Ranbir visited the Kaavya Chaaya of Guru Dutt exhibition, taking in the timeless posters and memorabilia that celebrated the poetic brilliance of Guru Dutt. He was joined by cinema historian SMM Ausaja, film critic, curator, cinema researcher Sukhpreet Kahlon, and Dr. (Hon.) Anusha Srinivasan Iyer from TRIS.

“Guru Dutt’s cinema is emotion in motion — every frame was poetry,” said SMM Ausaja, capturing the soul of the exhibition.

Ranbir lingered before one of Guru Dutt’s portraits, smiling as he said softly, “It reminds us why we fell in love with cinema in the first place.”
