If talks doing the rounds in the Hindi film industry are any indication, Anil Ambani’s Reliance Entertainment is keen to carry forward the legacy of the late actor-filmmaker Dev Anand. This, besides the ‘Evergreen’ actor’s son Suniel, who is a natural inheritor of his father’s property.
It is being rumoured that the production house wants to take over his banner Navketan, the Anand recording studio and the rights of all the 32 films of his.
Interestingly, in 2009, the Guide actor-producer’s landmark Anand Studio at Pali Hill at Bandra went in for redevelopment. Then it was claimed that Reliance was involved in the redevelopment process.
Here, one may recall that Dev Anand cast Tina Munim in his 1978 film Des Pardes after she won a beauty pageant. Later, the actress worked with him in two other films namely Lootmaar and Man Pasand. And Reliance Entertainment is part of her husband’s group of companies.
Meanwhile, Suniel is busy with his film The Vagator Mixer that has a Hollywood crew and is being shot abroad (under Navketan banner).
