Sooraj Barjatya's nine-year old niece Kashvee Barjataya, becomes one of the youngest published authors in the world

Sooraj Barjatya
Child prodigies often delight us with their uncanny intellect. Kashvee Barjataya, Sooraj Barjatya’s niece, is one such girl. All of nine, this little wonder launched her first book ‘Lost In The Woods’ yesterday, in the presence of Anupam Kher and Sudha Murthy (Narayan Murthy’s wife). The book also gave her the unique distinction of being one of the youngest authors in the world. And for all those who thought, Kashvee just got plain lucky because she was a member of the Barjatya family, the little girl proved everyone wrong when she confidently took the mike and answered questions with a serene grace. The moment of the day however happened when Anupam Kher asked Kashvee if she had ever faced a writer’s block. Very innocently Kashvee shot back, “What’s a writer’s block, uncle?” Kashvee’s uncle, acclaimed director Sooraj Barjatya spoke in glowing terms about his niece who he recollected started writing at the tender age of seven. Kashvee’s father Rajat also expressed his great pride at being the father of such an intelligent kid. “This is a very proud moment for me, as a publisher and as a father. Kashvee has been writing lovely poems and stories from a very young age. When I read the first draft of ‘Lost In The Woods,’ I was struck by her imagination and how well it lends itself to adaptations across films, TV, merchandizing and games. I have tried my best to give her a platform so that her talent can reach young readers across the world. I hope Kashvee inspires other kids to pursue their passion and live their dreams. At Rajshri Books, our endeavor will be to encourage new literary talent and creative storytelling since at the end of the day, irrespective of whether it’s a film, TV show, digital content or book, it’s all about telling a story,” said Rajat. Speaking on her journey and her debut book, Kashvee said: “Today is a really big day for me. It’s a dream come true. I narrated some poems to my father and he told me to weave them into a story. I’m very happy that my book is being published. I hope children and their parents across the world enjoy reading Lost In The Woods as much as I have enjoyed writing it.” Now being a Barjatya, it’s natural to think that you would enter the film world sooner or later. But Kashvee surprised us when she said that she doesn’t watch many Hindi films and neither is she interested in acting. Well, looks like Barjatyas will have to wait till little Kashvee changes her mind.
