MUMBAI: Fans have been eagerly awaiting Sandeep Reddy Vanga's sequel to Animal ever since the film's popularity. Triptii Dimri recently talked about reuniting with Ranbir Kapoor for Animal Park in an interview, although she said that she was unaware of the film's shooting timetable.
“For now, honestly, I’m as clueless as the audience is, I don’t know when it will start or what’s the story, I just know that it’s going to happen, when I don’t know,” Triptii told the popular news portal.
She went on to discuss the negative response that the movie received following its premiere and stated, “It was a great experience. Yes, a lot of criticism also came along with it. But I think it’s a part and parcel of the game. And every actor has to go through it,” Dimri said. She noted that the experience brought her work to a wider audience. “After ‘Animal,’ they watched my other work.”
Released on December 1, 2023, Animal revolved around a man and his toxic relationship with his father. The film showed Vijay (played by Ranbir) as an anti-hero who would go to any lengths to protect his father, including gun down 200 people with machine gun. However, despite his efforts, he struggled to get a seal of approval from his emotionally unavailable father (played by Anil Kapoor). The film was a box office success and earned over Rs 900 crore worldwide.
Many others attacked the movie as toxic and misogynistic and slammed Sandeep Reddy Vanga's direction. When talking about the idea of the "angry young man" in movies, Javed Akhtar recently referenced Animal and said that when a character expresses unreasonable rage that isn't focused on anything specific, it turns into a caricature.
“I have not seen Animal. People told me about it, and I read in the news that he asks her to lick his shoe. She bends down, but thank god they cut it right there,” he said during an episode of We Are Yuvaa.
In the meantime, Rashmika Mandanna previously stated that Animal was "just about a character" who is "messed in the head" on Neha Dhupia's podcast. Despite everything, she said, people still found the movie to be enjoyable, describing it as "raw, real, and correct."
