MUMBAI : August 15, Independence Day, is the scheduled release date for "Vedaa," directed by Nikkhil Advani. In a special interview with IndiaToday.in, the filmmaker stated he anticipated a delay in the certification. With nine cuts, "Vedaa," starring Abhishek Banerjee, John Abraham, and Sharvari, was awarded a U/A certificate. But the producers had to wait a while to get the certificate.

Director Nikkhil Advani expressed his gratitude to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) and emphasized that he had expected the certification process to take longer due to the film's content in an exclusive interview. In addition, he stated that the choice to release the movie on August 15 rather than July 12 was his own and had nothing to do with the CBFC.

Opening about his film Nikhil Said, “When I wrote the film, and when I was making and editing the film, I knew that there were certain elements that might be a bit hard in terms of what we are trying to say and what we are trying to do in the film. It's a very big, entertaining, mass commercial film, but at its heart, it has a difficult story - Vedaa's journey is a difficult journey.”

He added, “But, I have to actually commend that when the revising committee of the CBFC saw the film, they gave us a U/A certificate, because they felt everyone should see the film.”

He further added, “There's a process and there are certain protocols that you need to follow. And, we knew that - that's the reason why we had applied eight weeks in advance,”

Speaking on the film’s postponement, “But it was not postponed from July 12 to August 15 because of the censors. August 15 is the best time when it comes to releasing a film. 'Satyamev Jayate', 'Batla House' were released on August 15, so third time lucky.”
