MUMBAI: Tellychakkar gets you an exclusive interview with the terrific actor Dibyendu Bhattacharya.

Dibyendu Bhattacharya who in his own words is a proud alumnus of the National School of Drama has spent over two decades in the Indian film industry, turning the smallest and most insignificant roles into something noteworthy and memorable. He goes on to tell us ''My background has been in hardcore Calcutta theatre. I was awarded the best actor by IPTA (Indian People’s Theatre Association) way back in 1993 before I joined the National School of Drama. The name of my theatre group was Rashbehari Shailushik, they are still very much working. I wanted to work nationally and internationally and needed to learn more about my craft, that’s why I joined the National School Of Drama.''

On the work front, the outstanding actor is all geared up to work in Season 2 of Netflix's Jamtara. He further continues ''Being a family man I am a bit anxious about resuming work during the pandemic, but an actor knows nothing else other than his craft, and so I shall pursue it in all circumstances. The actor quashes the jinx surrounding 2020 and says'' We live in troubled times, where we have stopped caring about our planet, the mother nature is simply getting back at us''.

The actor also revealed when Ashish Shukla, who is also the director of super hit series Undekhi, approached him for the role of DSP Barun Ghosh, he was enthralled about it because in a long time he hadn't got a chance to play a positive character. The acting maverick tells us that his and Ashish's friendship goes back to Dev D days, where the latter used to be the creative director and the two became good friends instantly. They went on to work together in Undekhi and the recently released Bahut Hua Samaan.

We questioned him further about the Nepotism debate which has taken rage after the demise of Sushant Singh Rajput, the actor quips '' In my journey in the Indian Film industry of over 26 years I have never heard or experienced this whole agenda, I have surely faced biased on the basis of colour, but my performance in each role I did, was a breakthrough.

We concluded with a candid conversation about what the actor lately binge-watched and he was quick to say'' Enola Holmes on Netflix is a must-watch, I watched it like a student, as there is no age of learning, and an actor should work continuously towards bettering his craft.''
