MUMBAI: 'Do Aur Do' Pyaar actress Vidya Balan used to smoke before she met her husband Aditya Roy Kapur. The actress resounded to the habit after she was roped in for 'Dirty Picture' and started getting addicted to the smell of smoke. Even though the star was in her college days, she used to love being around people who would take a smoke. She self-confessed that since her college days, she loved the concept of smoking- credits to the ‘smell’.
During a chat session with Youtuber Samdish, the actress said she was addicted to smoking 2-3 cigarettes after playing the role of Silk Smitha. "Even at bus stops in my college days, I would stand next to people who would smoke", she quipped.
The actress has been happily married for a decade now. When she was asked by the Youtuber if she still smokes, she revealed, "No. I don’t think I should say this on camera, but I enjoy smoking. If you tell me a cigarette would do no harm to you, then I would do it".
Vidya had also confessed that even before 'Dirty Picture' she used to smoke. "I had smoked before shooting for the film. I knew how to smoke but I didn’t really smoke...you know what it is. But as a character, you can’t just fake it. I couldn’t have that hesitation because there is a certain perception about women who smoke. Much less now, far more before", she told the Youtuber.
