MUMBAI: The female members of her family were originally discouraged from pursuing jobs in the film industry, but Kareena Kapoor is renowned for shattering those taboos. Kareena recently talked about how much she admires Randhir Kapoor, her father, calling him "one of the coolest fathers ever."
For those who are unaware, the Kapoor family, frequently referred to as the "first family of Hindi cinema," has a lineage that includes Raj Kapoor, a pioneer of Hindi cinema, and Prithviraj Kapoor, a well-known actor of his era. Women in the Kapoor family had historically been prohibited from entering the film industry by an unspoken norm. By birth or marriage into the Kapoor family, none of her aunts continued performing after getting hitched. The first Kapoor woman to pursue acting and become a star in her own right, Karisma, Kareena's older sister, defied these conventions.

Kareena looked back on the numerous eras that the Kapoor women lived in and explained why they were historically missing from the film Industry. She acknowledged that in the 1970s, married women were expected to refrain from employment due to traditional expectations, but she praised her father for adapting to the times. Kareena emphasized the need to change for the benefit of one's children rather than stick to archaic beliefs.
Kareena mentioned her sister Karisma's early foray into acting and the difficulties Karisma encountered as one of the original Kapoor women to pursue the field. But she emphasized her father's ongoing assistance throughout Karisma's professional life.
She mentioned, "It was difficult during Karisma’s time because she was one of the first Kapoor girls but… not to ever say that my father didn’t support her and not to ever say… Even now, if he calls me and he knows I’m shooting, he will be apologetic that ‘oh no, okay, focus on your work’. He’s extremely cosmopolitan, extremely open-minded, he’s always just been so nice about everything.”
Bebo also referred to her father as a "friend and guide" and stated that he was much ahead of his time.
Kareena Kapoor Khan, Jaideep Ahlawat, and Vijay Varma will all appear in Sujoy Ghosh's film 'Jaane Jaan,' which is slated to be released in the near future. On September 21, which also happens to be Kareena's 43rd birthday, the movie will reportedly premiere on Netflix, giving her admirers a unique gift on this significant day.
