Dancing is a boon to the actor within me: Ojaswi Oberoi

Talented actress Ojaswi Oberoi claims that her knowledge in dance has helped her evolve as an actor...
Actor Ojaswi Oberoi, who plays the docile daughter-in-law in Zee TV’s popular show Brahmarakshas (Balaji Telefilms), has experimented a lot when it comes to choosing roles!! The actress who has done shows like Behenein, Aasmaan Se Aage, Shapath and Devon Ke Dev.. Mahadev has played roles ranging from that of a bubbly girl, naive reality show competitor, mentally ill patient and a girl with super powers in her previous avatars, and has managed to do justice to all!! In a hearty conversation we had with Ojaswi, we realized that she actually credits her dance background for her ability to switch roles with ease. Ojaswi who is trained in Kathak, Odissi, Mayurbhanj Chhau and Contemporary dance forms has performed extensively in India and abroad and actually holds a post graduate degree in Kathak dance. Ojaswi actually confided in us that in order to enhance her degree collection, she is presently preparing for her PHD. Oh wow!! That indeed seems to be an achievement!! Guess what? Ojaswi even managed to achieve nearly 83 percent in her preliminary exams, is what we hear. Acknowledging the same, Ojaswi told us, “Well, I have had a hectic schedule recently. I had to travel to Delhi for my practicals, but considering my hectic acting schedule, the examiners changed my centre to suit my convienience.” On the art of dance helping her grow in confidence as an actor, Ojaswi shared, “It is always easier to understand emotions and portray the same though your face, eyes and body language. I am thankful to my thorough training, not just in the technical portions, but also in ‘bhaav’.. During our performances, we have to depict a story not through words, but only using our expressions and body language. So I consider that dancing is a boon to the actor within me.” Way to go, Ojaswi!!
