KOLKATA: Bengali actress Mishmee Das, who played lead roles in Bengali TV serials like Gachhkouto and Premer Phande, has bagged her first Hindi project. She will be seen in Balaji Telefilms’ upcoming supernatural series Daayan, which stars Adaa Khan, Mohit Malhotra, and Tina Datta and will start from 15th December. Although she has shot for the show, Mishmee, who was also seen in soaps like Jibon Jyoti and Phagun Bou, still can’t believe that she is doing Ekta Kapoor’s show.

In an interview with TellyChakkar, Mishmee spoke about her character in Daayan, how she landed the project, and much more. Read on!

So, how did you bag the role?

Well, I met Ekta two years ago. And it was a super funny meeting. It was informal and by chance through common friends. It all started from there.

Tell us about your character in the show.

I’m playing Tina Datta’s best friend. My character is called Tanya.

Is it a negative or a positive role?

It’s a positive role, but with this show, you never know. Everyone is grey.

Have you started shooting for the show?

Yes, we’ve been shooting for the past 20 days in Mumbai. We have our set in Killick Nixon Studio, and today, we’re shooting at Film City.

For this show, are you presently based in Mumbai?

Yes.

Since your home is in Kolkata, where you staying there?

I’m staying in Versova. I’ve rented an apartment for myself.

So, how does it feel to be a part of Balaji Telefilms? What are your expectations from the show?

I think the show is going to do really well. The story will keep the audience hooked, and obviously, working with Balaji is everyone’s dream, I guess. My first Hindi show… that too with Balaji. Reality hasn’t sunken in yet.

How comfortable are you with the Hindi language?

I thought I was amazing, but after coming here, I realized how bad I am, but I’m learning.

What is your learning process?

I’ve studied Hindi all my life. So it’s not that difficult also.

Will you continue working in Mumbai or return to Kolkata after this show?

I’m hoping I impress everyone with my work and play the lead someday. I would obviously want to work here. And I’d love to do Bengali movies.
