Supriya Pathak says that "Mausam might have not been a super success, but it did not fail"

After going through a few controversies, when Pankaj Kapoor’s Mausam released on 23 September last year, it was flayed by the media. Naturally, this didn’t go down well with the makers. In a brief chat with Movie Chakkar, Supriya Pathak, the director’s better-half clears the air about what they felt. “The film might have not been a super success, but it did not fail. We still stand by the fact that we made a good film and are proud of it.” Supriya, who has been loved by everyone as Hansa in Khichdi TV series, continued, “Not one person, whom we have met, has talked badly about the film. But it did not rock the box office. Today, when you talk about a film working or not, it is seen more in terms of investment and recovery. Well, that is a producer’s call while we are only creative people. All this is not our cup of tea. They should have thought about it earlier.” But the trade attributed this ‘ok’ performance to the film being too long? “Yes it might have been, but we are not answerable for that. We only know why we did that. Another thing what I feel is that may be the audience likes to be told stories upfront and not in a roundabout fashion. May be the concept was also not right for the time. We will consider all of this when we make our next project.” What’s next for Pankaj? “He has given the last three years of his life to Mausam and now he wishes to satisfy the actor within. He is thoroughly enjoying his character in Vishal Bhardwaj’s comedy drama, Matru Ki Bijli Ka Mandola that also stars Shabana Azmi,” Supriya ended.
