Niaa Sharma - I wanted to be a journalist but God had different plans for me

A page from the personal diary of Niaa Sharma Hello readers!!! I am Niaa Sharma whom people know as Maanvi from Star Plus’ show Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Hai. Born in Delhi on 17 September, 1990, I finished my schooling from Kendriya Vidyalaya Gole Market after which I completed my bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Mass Communication from Jagan Institute of Management Studies (JIMS) Rohini in Delhi. My dad passed away long ago and I have got one elder brother who stays and works in Delhi. I live with my mom in Mumbai. Before acting happened to me, I always dreamt of becoming a journalist but God had other plans etched out for me. Once I had gone for an audition of news anchoring in Delhi but instead got an opportunity to play the sister’s role of the protagonist in Star Plus’s Kaali- Ek Agnipariksha. After that, I did Behenein in which I played the role of Nisha. But I always wanted to do a different kind of a role. After that, I thought of going back to Delhi and do my MBA. But again God intervened. I got an opportunity to play the lead role of Maanvi in Star Plus’ show Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Hai. Then, there was no looking back for me. I am enjoying playing the character of Maanvi which to me is one of the best roles I have got. We have a good looking and fun loving cast and we all have a great time on sets. I think, my journey till now has been very good. Work has become passion for me now. And in this endeavour, my mom has been always supportive. On the personal front, I am very vivacious and playful kind of a person. I like adventurous sports. I like ice skating, basketball and love dancing. I think a girl’s body is designed to dance. If given a chance, I want to participate in Kaun Banega Crorepati and impress Amitabhji with my charm and humor. I want to have a good time in the show.
