MUMBAI: Actress Dipika Kakar, who won Bigg Boss 12, said, “This Simar will be more strong and have a lot of new shades. There will be new characters and chapters.”.
Not many actors wish to return to a project they have already been associated with, but Dipika has no such qualms. She said, “I have always maintained that Simar is a part of me and will always be alive in me. I may have played the character for six years, but I continue to live it till date. People in my sasural still address me as Simar. Initially, they connected with me because of the show. Also, as an artiste, I have never thought that I won’t go back to a show or down the same path. I was in a mood to take a break and had turned down a couple of shows in the last six months. But then I got a call for Sasural... That show has made me what I am today.”.
While the original season enjoyed a long run, it was also dissed and mocked for its bizarre tracks, including the one when Simar turned into a makkhi (fly). Unfazed with all the trolling and the memes that did the rounds back then, Dipika said, “I wasn’t affected. You can praise us or diss us, but you can’t ignore us. So, that’s a win. At the end of the day, what matters are the ratings. Aur agar woh aa rahi hai toh matlab hai ki log show dekh rahe hain. Why do people not make fun of such tracks in a horror film? But you will talk about it when you watch it on a daily soap. Entertainment factor toh dono mein hain.”.
Dipika met her real-life Prem aka Shoaib Ibrahim during the show and tied the knot with him in 2018. Will we see the couple reunite in the second season? “I would love Shoaib to play Prem again on the show. But for now, I don’t want to comment on that.”.
The actress mentioned that she wanted to take a break from work. Ask her if the couple plans to go the family way and she replied, “Obviously, we think about it. It will happen at the right time and when it does, I am sure you will get to know about it.”.
