MUMBAI : Actor and producer Rohit Choudhary, who made his Bollywood debut with Sunny Deol-starrer Gadar 2, believes that mental health issues can start when people start expecting too much without putting in the required efforts. Speaking on the occasion of World Mental Health Day, which is observed on October 10, he said, “In today's fast-paced world, people often desire success and fulfillment but are not willing to put in the necessary work or time.”
“If we observe closely, a significant portion of mental health issues may stem from this gap between expectations and effort,” he added.
To keep his mental health in check, Rohit keeps himself focused on his daily tasks and setting goals that are not too difficult for him to achieve. He said, “Keeping myself busy not only keeps me productive but also prevents overthinking.”
“Additionally, my family plays a crucial role in maintaining my mental well-being. A healthy family dynamic, where members take care of each other's needs, is the foundation of a healthy mind,” he added.
Asked if he is an introvert or an extrovert, he said, “While I am an extrovert, I believe in maintaining boundaries. I feel that personal matters should remain within the family, and I don't discuss such things outside of our circle.”
He stressed that setting boundaries helps create a sense of respect and understanding over time. “One of the most valuable life lessons I’ve learned is how to say no when necessary. It’s a skill that protects my energy and maintains my peace of mind. Once people recognize and respect your boundaries, it leads to healthier, more meaningful relationships. Balancing expectations with effort, family support, and clear personal boundaries are my ways of managing mental health,” he ended.
