Though it is celebrated with extreme vigour and passion in Punjab, its magnificence and influence has touched the maximum city, Mumbai, as well. Along with Lohri, it also marks celebration of Makan Sankranti for many communities across the country. They rejoice by flying kites and eating delectable delicacies. Here, popular TV actors speak share their Lohri and Makar Sankranti memories.  Read what they have to say on the same...

Priyal Gor

I fondly remember my childhood memory where we used to go to my nani's place to fly kites. Now after growing up, I obviously enjoy gorging on sweets. I do not have any plans for Makar Sankranti as such, because we would be working, but I really wish that there should have been a track of Sankranti in my show "Ichhapyaari Naagin".

Karan Wahi

Well, Lohri was special while I was staying in Delhi. I remember being with my family, eating sweets and having a huge celebration in the colony I used to stay. Festivals haven't taken a back seat now too, but I don't celebrate the way I used to as a child. I think with age the way you celebrate changes, but the excitement remains the same!

Aishwarya Sakhuja

I used to spend my Lohri at my grandmother's house. Since we are Punjabi, the entire community used to get together and there used to be a huge celebration in front of my home. I personally don't like flying a kite because the string of the kite hurts birds. It’s a beautiful festival of colour and spirit. This year again I will be celebrating Lohri with my family.

Aditi Sajwan

In Bhatinda, Lohri is celebrated in a huge way every year. My family stayed in Bhatinda for three years. We had live DJs throughout the night in our locality, there were typical dance performances organised on Lohri songs. I remember in the night, we would usually gather around a bonfire and would eat all festive delicacies which consisted of ‘tilgud laddoos', ‘gajjak' and peanuts.

Lohri is now celebrated as a function, but earlier, when I was a kid, we used to gather along with friends and family, around a bonfire. We used to do bhangda all night and click photos for the memories. It feels great to sit around the bonfire with your loved ones. The food, sweets and especially groundnuts is what makes Lohri special and different. I miss all the fun in Punjab, but my work is in Mumbai so I don't mind celebrating here.

Lohri represents full masti, because the weather is good and one really enjoys wearing good clothes, sitting around a bonfire. It gives positive vibes. I have many great memories from the time I lived in Kolkata. Our neighbours used to gather below our building and then we all would eat delicacies and later dance around the bonfire! This year, I will be celebrating Lohri with my close friends in Mumbai. Later, I'll probably go for dinner at a friend place.

Mishkat Verma

Kite flying is one of my favourite activities during Sankranti. I still love to gorge on the sweets prepared specially for Sankranti. But this year since I am working on the same day, we would just be celebrating it by distributing sweets on the sets.

Asmita Sood

I remember as a child going to my grandparents' house in the festival. Also it is my mother's birthday on the same day, so it is a double celebration for us every year! I feel we should in our own small ways celebrate every festival that we identify with. Life these days has become very hectic and fast .but we should slow down for a bit and make these festivities count. They make beautiful memories that we can look back and smile upon when we grow old!

Happy Lohri guys!!!
