We spotted four television actors in Vikram Bhatt's allegedly autobiographical flick Ankahee.
Vikas Bhalla, (currently hamming his way through Shanno Ki Shaadi) has a miniscule (less than ten minutes) cameo as Esha Deol's former boyfriend.
Bakul Thacker (currently seen in Kya Hoga Nimmo Ka) plays a two minute forgettable role of a director of an ad film guy. Also seen in a relatively small part is Dipak Qazir, who plays Esha's secretary. But it is Ashwini Kalsekar (heiress apparent to Ramola Sikand as Jigyasa in Zee's Kasamh Se) who has a good and prominent role as Shilpa, a friend who stands by Ameesha Patel in her time of crisis.
We wonder why Vikas and Bakul even thought of taking on these micro roles in this film. Are these expressions of unfulfilled Bollywood careers?
Is Achint television's favourite replacement vamp?
Achint Kaur has replaced two of the most high profile vamps on television - Mandira in Kyunki...and Pallavi in Kahaani...
She's turning out to be a quite a show stopper in both the shows. Everyone is liking her performance as the negative strength in these primetime shows. It seems she has become the lucky mascot for Balaji. We are sure Shweta Kawaatra and Mandira Bedi must be wondering what if they had continued in their respective shows.....and we are also sure her performance must be keeping Tassnim, Shubhavi, Urvashi Dholakia, Sudha Chandran on their toes.
Notice that all these characters are Ekta Kapoor creations!
Ujjaini limps after bad fall
The talented and exuberant Ujjaini comes limping in pain to sing in today’s episode of Ek Main Aur Ek Tu. She had missed a step and ended up falling down badly, just after the final rehearsal before the shoot. Doctors have confirmed a torn ligament and a probable fracture. Though in pain, she sang well to impress the judges once again. “The doctors have asked me to take it easy for three weeks and let it heal naturally,” says Ujjaini.
Ujjaini also spoke of her song in the yet to released film Alag. Ace Bollywood photographer Subi Samuel is the producer of the film and composer Aadesh Srivastav has experimented with new singing talents for this album. Ujjaini and Challenge 2005 finalist Hemachandra have sung a song. Shaan and Kunal Ganjawala are the other singers in the album. Ujjaini sings in the soundtrack Saanjh Ki Pighalti. Ujjaini and Aishwarya have been getting good rating from the viewers and the judges on the show. That she has the makings of a playback singer is the opinion of the Groovy Gurus.
Here's wishing her a speedy recovery.
Maninee finds her calling in Psychotherapy
This is really interesting bit of news! Maninee De is all set to be a psychotherapist. Maninee who can now be seen in Sab's Twinkle Beauty Parlour, is already on her way to complete the psychotherapy course from a very famous Delhi institute, Sarthak.
"I have always been interested in this. I can understand people and I am always ready to help everyone, and for a very long time I was very captivated by this profession of counseling," say the excited actor. She will soon join hands with an NGO, Ashakiran, in Mumbai and begin working for them. "I will also be working towards the development of children who are associated with this NGO, as education is of utmost importance to me," adds the actor.
Way to go Maninee! We are all for people who want to give back something to the society that they are part of!
Preeti skeptical about doing TV
Preeti Jhangiani whose last film Chand Ke paar Chalo flopped badly is seriously considering the idea of trying her luck on television. The buzz is she was being considered for a lead role in Anuj Saxena's production house Maverick's first soap for which Maverick is planning to make a pilot. Maverick's creative head had approached her father who handles her work. She probably gave it a thought and refused as she still want to continue trying to do films. It seems that TV is fast becoming an attractive career options to actresses who are not getting the desired success in Bollywood but they somewhere are scared to do television because they think once they do TV bollywood won't accept them. Sometime back Nauheed Cyrusi had backed out of Manish Goswami's project. But the lure of television as a safe career option as it pays quite well and regularly is unavoidable. If you have any doubts Preeti go and ask Poonam Dhillon, Bhagyashree, Avinash Wadhavan, Rahul Roy, Mohnish Bahl and Kamal Sadanah who are quite happy doing television.
