MUMBAI: Popular television star Abhinav Shukla has made headlines once again—this time, not for his on-screen charm, but for candidly sharing a personal casting ordeal that has sparked conversation within the industry.
Known for his composed demeanour and measured words, Abhinav recently took to social media to recount an uncomfortable encounter with renowned YRF casting director Shanoo Sharma.
Reflecting on the period when his film Roar was gearing up for release, Abhinav revealed, “I was encouraged by well-wishers to meet YRF’s casting director. I went, and she told me, ‘You’re a good-looking guy, but that’s it—the spark is missing. You can audition, but…’”

His remarks come in the wake of similar revelations from Mirzapur actress Isha Talwar, who also spoke publicly about her experience with Shanoo Sharma.
Interestingly, Shanoo herself has been in the limelight recently for her work on the blockbuster Saiyaara, in which she cast Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda in the lead roles.
Despite the setback from that meeting years ago, Abhinav Shukla has carved out a successful career in television, becoming a well-respected name in the industry.
His openness now sheds light on the challenges and subjectivity actors often face in the casting process—reminding audiences that behind every polished performance lies a journey filled with both opportunities and obstacles.
