Akshara and the Yeh Rishta…cast go ‘mum’ in a special episode

Looks like TV producers want to pull out all stops when it comes to keeping their shows on top of viewers’ minds. Star Plus’ top-rated show Yeh rishta kya kehlata hai, will go all silent on January 8. We have been used to the opulence of the sets and the grand treatment meted out to the characters of the show, but in this special episode there will be no dialogues. Protagonist Akshara who is held responsible for the Mohit-Nandini relationship, will express her pain and grief through silence.
With only background music to intensify the grave silence in the household, it is for the first time on Indian television that viewers will experience a silent episode. The music will heighten the pain experienced by Akshara. Akshara is going through a tough time as no one is willing to talk to her, because she encouraged Mohit and Nandini to meet and fall in love. Elaborating on the episode, Hina Khan who plays Akshara says, “The experience has been one of its kinds! We have already had a heated argument where my in-laws scold me for hiding the big secret about my sister-in-law Nandini. They aren’t talking to me and in this episode I am going to each one of them pleading them to forgive me. I think all the characters have already spoken a lot and in this special episode, there would be no dialogues at all, just the actions would speak.” Karan Mehra aka Naitik of says, “This is a very special episode where emotions will be expressed through expressions and not through dialogues. I think people will love to watch this episode as it has beautifully turned out . Acting is not all about dialogues and monologues; it’s about how you express yourself and make your viewers relate to the character you are portraying. For me, it wasn’t really difficult as my character never spoke too much when it was introduced. It was mostly about expressing without many lines.” Well, it remains to be seen if viewers enjoy this ‘silence’ or choose to give it a silent treatment!
