MUMBAI : The well-liked comedian and mother Bharti Singh recently discussed her parenting philosophy with Debina Bonnerjee on her podcast. Speaking about whether a nanny makes a mother’s responsibility diminish, Bharti said, “Not at all. A mother operates, A nanny works for you like a robot. The nanny will keep asking me what to make. I know what Golla will eat when he wakes up. I am not a housewife. I am a working mother. That’s why I need a little bit of help. My mother-in-law is there, my mother is also there. But I feel they have spent entire lifetime to raise us. They like to do it. There is nanny and mother-in-law is there to oversee. I have never left my kid under the responsibilities of just the nanny or house help. I am there.”

Bharti, a working mother, confessed that she occasionally needed assistance, but she insisted that she never entrusts a nanny or housekeeper with her child's care. Bharti talked on how committed she is to helping her son keep a healthy diet. She disclosed that Golla, who is currently two and a half years old, was just recently exposed to sweets.

Bharti said, “He turned 2 and a half years old and just got introduced to sweets. He was on jaggery and dates instead of sweets. He never had chocolates. We introduced dry fruits to him instead of chocolates. Whenever he asks for chocolates, we give him dry fruits. I know in future he will eat real chocolates, but I want to keep him as clean as possible. He never had bread or a burger. He is daal, chawal and sabzi person.”

She added, “No matter how much modern we get, but food for kids should be ghar ka khana. In the future, they will end up eating all that outside food. It’s not like I am trying to correct anyone. To each their own. But from the first day till now, Golla sleeps between Haarsh and me. I bought his cot too but he never slept there. He sleeps between us.”
