MUMBAI: While Delnaaz Irani has made quite a name for herself in the comedy genre in both films as well as TV, the actor says that she wants to focus on showcasing her craft through stronger roles. Delnaaz, who was last seen in the show Choti Sarrdaarni, says that even if its comedy, her character needs to be more prominent and integral to the story. “I’ve got the name, fame and money but I am still on the lookout for a significant role. I have done theatre since the last 25 years and have been doing many other projects but I have still not got my due. I know people love watching me do comedy, however, I am yet to get a strong role in this genre as well. Now I want to do something that’s challenging. If it has to be a comedy, then it should be like Sridevi’s role in ChaalBaaz. I won’t just be a filler somewhere. I would love to explore my craft more and for that, I need to play stronger roles,” she says.
Meanwhile, talking about entertaining the audience, the actor is not a big fan of the current season of Bigg Boss as the contestants don’t seem to be their real selves. “Bigg Boss is all about celebrities showing their true selves. But, in this season, I am seeing that everyone seems to be playing the game with an agenda. So like they will have an affair so that they can stay longer or they will be abuse on camera so that they are shown in the one-hour episode. I feel exhausted just watching this season,” she says.
In fact, the actor adds that she loved her season, which also had her ex-husband Rajev Paul as a contestant. “Our season was so much better than this one. In fact, I remember it was just two months after my divorce with Rajev, but the fact that he was there in the house, supporting me, was incredible. I wish him all the best in life, wherever he is,” she says.
