Dog to play protagonist in TV show

After 'saas-bahu' sagas, 'naagins' and 'daayans', the Hindi small screen is set to get a new protagonist in the form of a dog! Disney Channel is coming up with a new show titled “Gabbar Poonchwala”, in which a dog is playing the main role.

“Joining the bandwagon this year is a lovable little two-year-old young dog Gabbar as the main protagonist on the upcoming show, 'Gabbar Poonchwala'," read a statement from the channel.

The show will begin starting January 11.

Gabbar, a dog extraordinaire, communicates with his owner, young Mihir Khanna, in a Haryanvi accent.

The role of Mihir is being essayed by Nihar Gite, who is making his first stint on a television fiction show.
