MUMBAI: The entertainment industry is not only about actors and actresses but there is a lot more than that.

While every aspiring artist always wants to face the camera and wishes to be everyone's favourite, there are many who prefer to always stay behind the camera and yet give their best.

Casting directors are one of the most important parts of any project. Be it film, TV or a web show, the casting director has an integral role to play to proceed with the things.

A lot of casting directors have made their mark in the entertainment world who are responsible for introducing fresh talent to the showbiz world.

One such casting director is Pruthvirajsinh Raulji.

In an exclusive interview with TellyChakkar, Pruthvirajsinh spoke in length about his casting journey and much more.

How it all started...

My casting journey started in the year 2012. Whoever comes to Mumbai, usually come here to pursue acting. I came to Mumbai in 2003 to become an actor. But I didn't know how to go about it. I work for several things like being an assistant director, being a crew member, and much more. I also worked as an actor and dancer, choreography in theatre to just survive. I had no one to guide me in Mumbai. I struggled for almost 8 to 9 years but didn't get any proper opportunities. Casting was one such thing that had some connection with acting. I felt that I could do casting as I had assisted a lot of freelance casting directors. I haven't taken any formal training but learnt it all on my own.

A stepping stone in casting...

I started assisting a serial's freelance casting director. After I decided to get myself completing into casting, I joined Hats Off Productions in 2012 as an associate casting director. After a year, I became a casting director in the same company. Post that, I had to leave the company for some personal reasons. I took a break and when I came back, I found an opportunity in Optimystix. I worked there for one and a half years. Then I joined Neela Telefilms for Taarak Mehta Ka Oolath Chashma. I worked there for almost 5 years. Currently, I am involved in in-house casting.

Future plans...

I am not deciding anything right now. I don't have any goals or don't have any plans as such. I have complete 9 years in casting and I am still going on. I have never really thought about having my own casting agency or do in-house casting. I'll grab the opportunity and just do it be it anything. I had very well understood in the early years of my career that the industry is very unpredictable. I am just going with the flow. I just want to be ready for every challenge.

On the work front, Pruthvirajsinh is doing the in-house casting for Colors' recently released show Thodaa Sa Badaal Thoda Sa Paani.

Here's wishing Pruthvirajsinh Raulji all the very best for future endeavours.
