MUMBAI : Talented thespian Urvashi Dholakia has impressed the masses by playing varied roles on the small screen. The actress is still recalled for character portrayal of Komolika in Kasauti Zindagi Ki.
She has also featured in TV shows like Dekh Bhai Dekh, Shaktimaan, Kabhii Sautan Kabhii Sahelii, Tum Bin Jaaoon Kahaan, Kahiin To Hoga, and Bayttaab Dil Kee Tamanna Hai. She also won the 6th season of Bigg Boss.
After Chandrakanta - Ek Mayavi Prem Katha, she made her fiction comeback on TV after four years with Ekta Kapoor’s superhit supernatural franchise, Naagin 6, which airs on Colors. Urvashi plays a rich, glamorous woman who is a doting mother.
TellyChakkar got in touch with Urvashi, who spoke about going behind the camera, a backup plan for an actor, and more.
What kind of roles do you wish to play next?
“I've never really had anything particular in mind. Whenever I hear a script, I see my character to be larger than life and try to portray it accordingly. So if the character clicks, I simply do it.”
Have you ever thought about going behind the camera?
“Yes, I've thought about it many times, but I'll do it at the right time. As of now, I'm happy being an actor.”
Do you think an actor must have a backup plan?
“Yes, absolutely! Because there's life outside this field as well, and the level of uncertainty level is very high.”
Do you think actors are being underpaid?
“It's a domino effect that has happened due to the pandemic. It has affected technicians, actors, and the entire industry, but I'm sure we'll bounce back. It's not just actors; producers are struggling as well.”
Good luck, Urvashi!
