MUMBAI: 2020 has been the year of good news as well as some really bad news! Couples planning parenthood during a pandemic isn’t a new trend anymore. And giving it a thought is another couple – Pankhuri Awasthy and Gautam Rode. The couple was recently in Lucknow when they revealed that parenthood is definitely on their mind and that they might plan a baby by next year. “By next year we plan to extend our family. This is a good time to do that as nothing is happening anyways. For working people like us this is good time as there’s not much work to do, otherwise it is like you miss out on work. Also, during these times, we are anyways at home and so are protected to an extent. And like people are saying that Corona is here for some time, so it is a good time for becoming parents,” shares Pankhuri, adding, “Both of us are equally excited to have a kid. Dono ko hi bachhe pasand hai and dono hi scared bhi hain.”

The Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan actress came to her hometown to celebrate Bhai Dooj. While Pankhuri has travelled to her hometown on Rakshabandhan, for Gautam it was his first travel ever since the Coronavirus outbreak took place. “I always had this in mind that till the time it is not very necessary and there is not an emergency, I will not travel. But then, it’s been so many months now, so I was like ki kab tak travel nahi karunga ab main. So finally, I got to thinking that we don’t know yet when Coronavirus is going to end. So I convinced myself to travel with all necessary precautions,” says Gautam, adding, “When I took the flight to Lucknow, I was actually paranoid to an extent that not only was I bothered about my mask, but even if Pankhuri’s mask used to be slightly below the nose, I would make her put it back in place.”

But the best part was that when I came to Lucknow I became slightly relaxed seeing how chill Lucknowites are especially when it comes to wearing masks. We both went out to a recently opened mall in the city and were surprised to see that hardly anyone was were wearing a mask. It’s really sad to see Lucknowites not wearing masks. Probably it is because maybe the cases are not that much in the city. Though I was taking full precautions as in when I went out to celebrate my brother-in-law’s birthday, I was continuously spraying the tables and chairs with sanitizers. Pankhuri that way is quite chilled, but I am not!”And as a partner, Pankhuri says she has been doing her bit to calm him down. "I toh keep calming Gautam down all the time. He is too paranoid about the whole situation. Obviously it is good to be careful, in that sense I agree with Gautam. And because Gautam is so careful about things, I can let my guards down. I keep telling him to relax as it is very necessary to be stress-free during these times. Even when I was coming to Lucknow in August, I asked him to come with me but at that time he was too scared. This time I convinced him with full force to come to Lucknow," says Pankhuri.
