Hiten Tejwani is pretty excited about playing a doctor in Colors’ longest-running show, Balika Vadhu (Sphere Origins). Though Hiten had a cameo role as a doctor to play in Humari Sister Didi, the very fact that he will play a doctor with a difference in Balika Vadhu, excited him to pick this role.
Doctor with a difference? So what does it mean?
Well, Hiten’s character of Anant will be a doctor by profession. But the man would have left his profession and would have turned a businessman in order to keep his wife happy. And this complexity in the man encouraged Hiten to choose it.
Says Hiten, “The beauty of the character lies in the fact that he has half-heartedly switched from being a doctor to a businessman. It is not easy, especially for a doctor to change profession, and this brings in a lot of layers in the character. He’s done the big sacrifice as his wife was not happy with him being a doctor. But even after making this decision, his marital life has not been easy-going. The couple has a troubled relationship, and this has obviously affected the daughter, Nidhi (Vidhi Pandya).”
Nidhi being Anandi’s (Toral Rasputra) favorite student, will now add the big connection in the story.
“Anandi will see Nidhi being stressed out, and she will ultimately get to know of Nidhi’s parents going through a problematic life,” adds Hiten.
On being part of Balika Vadhu, the talented actor states with a grin, “It is a wonderful opportunity to be part of a big show. The whole point is that I have got a very good character to play on. Frankly speaking, I will not call myself a good actor, but I can say that I have reached a point in my career where I can choose what I want. This character has a lot of variety and will certainly make a big difference to what I have played earlier.”
