MUMBAI: It's Sushant Singh Rajput's birthday on January 21. He would have turned 35 this year. His death came as a shock not just to people in India, but worldwide. The actor was found hanging at his Bandra home on June 14, 2020, and soon after his death a lot of his fans and well-wishers called it a murder. From #JusticeForSSR to #CBIForSSR started trending in no time, though they are back in action on his birthday, there was a long silence before too. So we spoke to a few celebs about the sudden silence after the uproar that was initially there, and here's what they had to say:
Sidharrth Sipani: Sushant Singh Rajput was a popular name in the industry and film-goers. It may have taken a long time, but ultimately people move on and forgot about the incident. People in India have very short memories and they forget fast. After some time people will get other topics to talk about. This has been seen many times in the past, people talk about the issue and then forget about it. Hope justice will be done this way or the other.
Kavitta Verma: I know there is silence in the media and on Twitter, but all I can understand is the empathy for the father who's still fighting a personal war within and with his predicament. It's sad, but sometimes your loss or crises can be of less worry to others. The only person today who still must be suffering within is the father, who lost his son.
Mohit Daga: Sushant Singh Rajput was an inspiration to many and he inspired all of us as an actor. Being a television actor one needs lots of effort and blessings from god and then only a person gets destined to achieve those heights. And after receiving this success a sudden step has been a question mark for all of us. We all are still shocked and it feels bad that Sushant today is not between us. At times when I see his hoardings or poster anywhere on social media or any OTT platform, it feels like this was not meant to happen. I didn't know him closely, but when I had met him on the sets of 'Pavitra Rishta' while I was doing 'Ek Mutthi Aasman' there was a combined episode which we had to shoot during which I had some interaction with Sushant. Ankita is a good friend as we both were a part of Zee Cinestar Ki Khoj. But yes, it is disheartening to accept that Sushant Singh Rajput is no more, but today on his birthday, I would want to wish that wherever he is, god must have been kind to him and may his soul rest in peace.
Malvi Malhotra: SSR was one of the finest actor's in our film industry and his sudden death was a shock for everyone. On his birthday, I just wish that his soul rest in peace and the hashtags and the campaigns which were trending and the protests that were happening after his death everything was temporary, nothing lasts forever, people move on with life and time. People might even forget that there was a person like SSR, only the close people or family members will remember him. The father who lost his son will remember him, but I don't think normal people will do. The outflow of anger inside people is temporary, with time it vanishes.
Rohit Bhardwaj: He was a great personality and I would like to wish him that wherever his soul is, I hope it is resting in peace. His career, life, and death made headlines, but now everyone has moved on. There might be some people who haven't moved on yet ,but the level at which his case was sensationalized that has come to a standstill because some evidences were not found. The case got weak, but I hope he gets justice. I support his family and will do till the time it is revealed what happened with him and the case concludes. The audience might forget him after a while and the buzz might get less, but he will always be remembered in the hearts of those who loved him and the people who were his fans including me. I wish that the silence doesn't prevail for a very long time, the trends and hashtags should be continued till he gets justice and people should support him and his family.
Kettan Singh: The film 'The Dirty Picture' had a dialogue by Naseeruddin sir which said 'Jab Sharafat ke kapde utarte hain tab sabse zyaada mazaa shareefon ko aata hai'. Today when we see all the things which happened with Sushant Singh Rajput and the way it all was catapulted to another level, it feels like a lot many people used that for their benefit. But there were a lot many genuinely concerned people who joined trends to know what happened with Sushant Singh Rajput and they are concerned to date. But the people who did it just for increasing their numbers and to gain TRPs are living in a bubble according to me. Their bubble will burst at some point in time. After the report given by AIIMS that he committed suicide, a lot many people who were concerned calm down themselves. But the fans and well-wishers including me are still there and will have him in our prayers and I would wish all the people connected to him and his family a lot of power, strength, and a lot of mental peace. I feel everyone should wake up, read about him, understand that mental wellness is important.
Ajay Singh Chaudhary: I wish Sushant was alive and he could have celebrated his birthday with people around him. Yes his death made headlines and, now everyone has moved on but that's the bitter truth and that's a fact that life has to move on. Yes, there were a lot many hashtags and trends moving around earlier, which are nowhere to be seen anymore. We all have seen a lot after his demise on news channels regarding different narratives which came relating to his death, a lot many people, political parties got involved blaming each other and a lot of things happened. But he has left. CBI got involved, but still, none of us knows the actual reason for him to take such a drastic step. We all have learned from this incident be it the entertainment fraternity and normal people and it became a lesson to all. I feel the family should be given some privacy and the unnecessary campaigns held by some people who were behind them should be taken off. I support the investigation, the truth should prevail, but the drama which took place and who took advantage of this scenario was very wrong according to me. We should be sensitive about things. I am very sad about his death and I pray for him every day and I hope he is happy wherever he is.
