On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Ayesha Singh sat down for an exclusive conversation with TellyChakkar to discuss the impact of her character, the message it holds for aspiring women, and her perspective on gender equality.
Your character, Mannat, has faced numerous challenges. How do you think her journey resonates with women?
Mannat’s story is one of perseverance, determination, and resilience. Life presents challenges both professionally and personally, but it is crucial to move forward with unwavering effort and a positive attitude.
What makes Mannat truly inspiring is her ability to navigate hardships with grace and persistence. Her dream of becoming a chef is at stake, yet she finds solutions for every hurdle she encounters.
She approaches life without ego or hesitation, prioritising her goals with clarity and wisdom. I believe many women will see a reflection of themselves in Mannat and draw strength from her journey.
What message does Mannat’s story convey to women pursuing their dreams?
The essence of Mannat’s story lies in self-belief and perseverance. No matter how tough the road ahead may seem, one must remain determined and listen to their heart.
It is also essential to trust a few close and wise individuals who can provide guidance along the way. I truly believe that no one is entirely ‘self-made’—we all need support at some point.
Seeking help is not a sign of weakness but of wisdom. Women should embrace their aspirations fearlessly, remain open to learning, and push forward with confidence.
What changes have you observed regarding gender equality in your personal and professional life?
There has certainly been significant progress. When I was younger, I often heard discussions about whether women should work outside their homes.
Such debates were frequent on news channels, but over time, they have reduced considerably although not entirely. I believe this change has come about due to the efforts of previous generations, with both men and women striving for equality.
While challenges remain, we are gradually moving towards a more balanced society where opportunities are not defined by gender but by talent and dedication.
Ayesha Singh continues to reign supreme on television screens, with her portrayal of Mannat striking a chord with audiences.
Her dedication to her craft and her advocacy for gender equality make her an inspiration both on and off screen.
