To Punjab da puttar Ishmeet Singh goes the honour of being anointed the first Amul Star Voice Of India.
"The name of the winner is Ishmeet," singing legend Lata Mangeshkar declared, after Bollywood's 'Queen of Hearts' Madhuri Dixit Nene opened the envelope, to the delight of the huge crowd at the Andheri Sports Complex on Saturday evening.
Ishmeet defeated Lucknow's Harshit Saxena on the basis of audience votes. What finally swung it for the singing sensation from Ludhiana was the huge number of votes he pulled in from North India. The break-up of the votes is as follows: North - Ishmeet-63%; Harshit-37%; East - Ishmeet-48%, Harshit-52%; West - Ishmeet-40%, Harshit-60% and South - Ismeet-45%, Harshit-55%. Overall percentage of votes received by Ishmeet was 52% as against 48% for Harshit.
Both the finalists also received 18 kg gold and diamond studded watches of Swaranjali, as a token of love from Lata. Besides this, the winner has also bagged an exclusive singing contract with Big Music for three years and has also been gifted a brand new Chevrolet Aveo U-VA.
Now that it has announced its first 'Voice of India', Star Plus is preparing to roll out a new offering Star Voice of India – Chottey Ustad.
