Kavita Kaushik is quite happy these days. Reason? She won the Best Comic Actor (Female) Award at the recently concluded Eleventh Indian Telly Awards – which will air on 30 June (2012) on Colors – for her rib-tickling performance in SAB TV’s FIR. “I am very happy but I am grounded and will continue to put in my best efforts for I know that what goes up must come down,” shares Kavita with Tellychakkar.com. Coming to the show narrative of a loud Haryanvi cop in a crazy police station, she is happy with the current flow and does not want any major changes to the story for, “if the public likes what they are being served so why should we upset the apple cart.” She also refuses to comment on the time slot change of FIR. This Edit 2 Productions series had been shifted to the 11 pm slot to accommodate Movers and Shakers and when this Shekhar Suman anchored stand up show did not generate good numbers and FIR’s ratings also dipped, the creatives brought back FIR to its original timeslot of 10.30 pm. “I don’t bother about things which are not in my hands,” are Kavita’s words on the entire TRP thing. For the moment, Kavita is just a part of FIR as, “there is nothing more interesting than Chandramukhi Chautala.” She further adds, “I don’t want to play the sacrificing bahu or the scheming vamp.” But did you not want to quit the show a while back? “Yes, but then the producers (Benaifer and Sanjay Kohli) gave me loads of money and I decided to keep quiet.” And what about your big screen dream? “I just don’t want to play the funny girl. Such roles keep coming to me but I rather be a queen on the small screen instead of playing second fiddle in films.” Ask her what is the status of her long delayed film Phillum City with John Abraham which was supposed to herald her big screen avatar and she replies “It is still held up due to financial problems with the producers”, she ends sadly.
