MUMBAI: Mangal Lakshmi: Lakshmi Ka Safar has been keeping fans on the edge of their seats. In the current track, Lakshmi is fighting the toughest battle of her life, while Goddess Durga has entered the Nigam house, taking Lakshmi’s form.
TellyChakkar got in touch with actress Sanika Amit, who plays Lakshmi in the show, to learn more about her experience of portraying the divine character.
When we asked Sanika about her first reaction on learning that she would be portraying Goddess Durga, she shared,
"When I found out that I would be playing Mata Rani, it was a mix of emotions. I wanted to portray her with the right depth while also ensuring a clear distinction between Lakshmi and Mata Rani’s character. Goddess Durga embodies divine power, and I had never attempted something like this before, so it was both challenging and exciting. To prepare, I revisited portrayals of mythological characters and studied the subtleties in their performance. The key, I felt, was maintaining stability in expressions. Unlike a normal individual, Mata Rani has to exude calmness, composure, and an aura that instantly connects with the viewers as a divine force."
When asked if she experienced a divine energy while enacting the role, Sanika smiled and said, "Honestly, yes, I did feel that. There were moments when I had goosebumps and a rush of energy while performing as Goddess Durga. I believe the background music and spiritual chants that my directors and ADs played during the scenes added immensely to the experience, giving me an inner strength and push. Overall, it has been an incredibly special and exciting journey so far."
