MUMBAI: Ace Indian choreographer Geeta Kapoor is a very popular dancing personnel in Bollywood and is also a popular TV personality for judging many dance shows. Her warm approach and care towards her students and the dance reality show's participants prompt the budding talents to address her as 'Geeta Maa', which she's also popularly known by. However, it was choreographer Feroz Khan who officially addressed her by this name for the very first time, when she was pursuing modelling, as reportedly, she used to treat Feroz as her kid, hence he addressed her as his 'mother'.

Even as a dance show's host, the warmth in her advice and suggestions that she offers to the young participants on the performance literally melts everybody's heart, including that of the viewers. This special gesture makes her one of the most loved judges of every dance show, which she has either judged or had featured in.

She has judged popular dance reality shows like Dance India Dance, Super Dancer, India Ke Mast Kalandar and India's Best Dancer.

Apart from that, She is known for her work in famous Hindi films as a choreographer. For the unversed, she had even featured as a cameo-dancer in a few Bollywood movie's songs like 'Dum Tara', popular Shah Rukh Khan-Kajol-Rani Mukherji starrer Kuch Kuch Hota Hai's song 'Tujhe Yaad Na Meri Aaye' and another Shah Rukh Khan starrer Main Hoon Na's popular party song 'Gori Gori'. Most of it's viewers could not even recognise her therein if not aware of the same.

For the uninitiated, Geeta Ma had embarked upon her career as a dancer at the young age of 15 by joining noted Bollywood choreographer and filmmaker Farah Khan's dance troupe. Then onwards, she gradually entered the world of Bollywood as a full-time choreographer and worked in many Bollywood movies like Fiza (2000), Asoka (2001), Saathiya (2002), Heyy Babyy (2007), Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic (2008), Aladin (2009), Tees Maar Khan (for item song 'Sheila Ki Jawani') (2010), Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya (2011) and Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi (2012).

Now, let's take a closer look at the most important people in Geeta Ma's life who stayed by her side through thick and thin...

1. Farah Khan

As mentioned above, Geeta Kapur started her career when she joined the troupe of noted Bollywood choreographer Farah Khan at the age of 15. Later, she assisted Farah Khan in many films, including Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Dil Toh Pagal Hai, Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham, Mohabbatein, Kal Ho Na Ho, Main Hoon Na, Om Shanti Om and the musical drama Bombay Dreams. Hence, they developed a very special bond since the very initial days of Geeta's career.

2. (Late) Rani Kapoor

Geeta was very close to her late mother Rani Kapoor. She has been the greatest pillar of strength in her daughter's struggling days in the industry and even cherished the best of Geeta's accomplishments therein. Sadly, Rani Kapoor left for the heavenly abode on 12th January 12 this year and Geeta did not inform anybody about her mother's demise, owing to the country's grim situation for the COVID-19 pandemic.

3. Terrence Lewis

Geeta and ace Bollywood contemporary choreographer Terrence Lewis have been great friends in the industry and their close bond reflects through the dance reality shows like India's Best Dancer, wherein both of them are judges.

4. Remo D'Souza

To be exact, the trio of choreographers Geeta-Remo-Terrence are very close to each other and share a very special friendship. At times of crisis, they've always got each other's backs. Last year, when Remo was hospitalised post-suffering a heart attack, Geeta Kapur and Terence Lewis wished for his speedy recovery on their Insta handles. They even gel well on the sets of the dance reality shows and are often spotted together.

5. Dharmesh Yelande

Geeta also bonds well with ace Bollywood dancer and choreographer Dharmesh Yelande. They are often seen heaping praises and wishes on each other through the various social media platforms. Infact, Geeta Kapoor was the judge of Dance India Dance 2, the very show wherein Dharmesh embarked upon his dancing career and which paved his way to stardom. Hence, Geeta got to know and nourish a rookie dancer's skills since his initial days and he could achieve the show's 'champion title' through her guidance. To pay a tribute to Dharmesh, Geeta even re-created his unforgettable audition. Hence, right from Dharmesh's audition to stardom, their bond did age well.

6. Raghav Juyal

Just like her bond with Dharmesh, Geeta bonded with Raghav right from his first day as 'Crockroaxz' (his stage name back then) in auditions for the reality dance show Dance India Dance 3 (which was judged by her), to the day he was considered as the 'King of Slow Motion' of India's dance-fraternity and even beyond. Even Raghav addresses her as 'Geeta Ma'.
