My look in Dahleez is by far the best I have donned: Siddharth Sen

Siddharth Sen

Actor Siddharth Sen has come a long way in proving his mettle as an actor, and his recent portrayal (of the terrorist responsible for the blasts that have wrecked the city causing the deaths of Abhay (Aryan Pandit) and Asad (Chirag Mahbubani) in Star Plus’ Dahleez has been phenomenal.

For an actor who was just trying to find his foothold in Zee TV’s Chhoti Bahu, Siddharth found his groove one can say, in Star Plus’ Arjun. And now, there’s no looking back as he portrays a power-packed performance in Dahleez.

The aspect that is very interesting is the effort that Siddharth has taken to look so very different in all his roles. From his curly-haired innocent portrayal in Chhoti Bahu to the geeky look in Arjun, the actor now poses a scintillatingly amazing hair-do as Major Ifteqar in Dahleez.

Here is a glimpse of the man’s growth via pictures when it comes to his look and appearance.

Says Siddharth, “The more you work, the more you grow as an actor. Earlier, I never used to work much on my look, and just left it to my creatives. But to play Major Ifteqaar, things were different. This is by far the best look that I have got, and I took all the efforts I could to look different on screen. I simply did not want to miss out on anything.”

Describing more on his latest look in Dahleez, the actor shares, “Well, it was the result of a well-thought decision. When I was narrated the story and character, they did tell me what they were looking at. I took up the challenge and started ribbing myself. Actually it came as a surprise to me too, when I started seeing the results. Well, coming to the haircut, that was altogether a huge episode (laughs). In short, if I say, the haircut given to me was a team work. To sum it up, I will say that I love my current look, mainly because it is stylish and very international. Plus it is low maintenance (laughs).”

The recent action and death sequence has garnered quite a lot of eye balls, and in fact earned Siddharth a lot of hate messages too. “Every day is a learning curve, and I am really happy with the response got. I have worked really hard to get the character right. I actually kept my ears open, and took tips from my director to the guys working for me. Then I did what I wanted to. As many do, I did not watch any character, from a film or TV show. I watched a few documentaries. And trust me, those videos were very disturbing.”

Ask him how he has evolved as an actor, and he is quick to say, “Life has just started. Every day I go to my set and learn. I see different real life characters from whom I learn a lot. Today, if I see Chhoti Bahu, it makes me think, ‘Is that me... Was I such a bad actor (smiles)’. I am sure five years down the lane, I will see Dahleez and think the same.”

So which role of yours has been the best? “That will be difficult to answer. I decided on a journey, and these characters came in my life one after another. There were some superb characters that I did in episodics too. So choosing one is difficult. But yes, I can proudly say that Dahleez gave me an identity. And when people praise you for your work, you get an amazing feeling within you. After all, ‘Ek bhooke artist ke liye wohi kaafi hai’...”

The stunt sequence shot at Chandni Chowk had amazing visuals. “Yes, those unforgettable six days in Chandni Chowk with Stunt Master Salaam Bhai was something I will never forget. Action is something I love watching and also doing. I was lucky that Aryan and Chirag were equally passionate. If you come out of an action sequence without injuries, you are either a pro or you are just pathetic. The guys hanging in the middle like me, will go through injuries and it is better to stay prepared. I can say, I am still recovering from them.”

Lastly, on life working in Delhi, Siddharth shares, “One will love Delhi if you are a foodie. You can ignore the beautiful girls, the extreme heat, the weird hours of working, but dude, the chicken kababs and mutton seekhs are something you just cannot avoid. And as we actors stay in the same hotel, the bonding that we have is mind-blowing. Work is like partying every day.”

Way to go, Siddharth!!
