MUMBAI: Ssharad Malhotra is winning accolades for his negative role and performance in Naagin 5. In an exclusive chat with ETimes TV, the actor recently shared about his wife Ripci Bhatia's reaction to his anti-hero look. Ssharad revealed that while his wife refused to believe that it's her husband, his mother stated that she is missing her 'sanskari beta'.

"I think the moment she saw me she said this cannot be my husband (laughs). Because she has always seen me clean shaven and smiling all the time. Ripci and my mother are missing the obedient me. My mother tells me all the time, 'mujhe mera sanskaari beta wapas chahiye, main usko miss karrti hoon (laughs). All of that is there but they are very happy that I have joined the legacy of Naagin the amazing franchise and we just want to take it forward. It is a big responsibility which Surbhi, I and Mohit have to do to the best of our abilities," he said.

Ssharad, who is playing a negative role for the first time, hopes that the character of the quintessential 'bad boy' Veer doesn't have any affect on him, "Obviously, the characters we play on-screen, we are not that in our real life. But when we are playing a bad or negative character it does take a toll on us. It plays with you in your head. Luckily, I have just started off so I am hoping it doesn't affect me much. All the characters I have played so far affect me slightly. It stays with me. It's like a residue which remains with me. I am hoping that people find this character exciting. I want to play this in a very different way. All the edgy, dark, evil, bad characters that people have seen so far, I want to do completely different from them. I want to play the character my way," said Ssharad.
