MUMBAI: Indian Idol 12 contestant Anjali Gaikwad, who impressed one and all with her classical singing, was recently eliminated from the show. The talented singer recently spoke up about her views about her elimination and her overall experience on the show. She talked about her excitement of meeting Pyarelal Ji and Rekha on the reality show and stated that she will always cherish those moments. Anjali also opened up about the controversy and trolling that happened on the show. She said that she tried to keep herself away from it and focused only on her singing.
The young singer also revealed that none of the contestants were hurt by Amit Kumar's criticism and instead they have worked on his suggestion. She concluded by talking about which celebrity she would love to playback for.
"My elimination definitely came as a shock and I didn’t expect that I would be eliminated so soon. I expected to reach the Top 5, but I respect the decision and the votes I got from all over India. I just want to thank people who all loved me so much and voted for me. I am very grateful that I go so much," she said
When asked about the best compliment that she received on the show, she said, "The biggest compliment that I received on the show was from AR Rahman sir who said that whenever I want to listen to classical music I watch Anjali Gaikwad and her sister Nandini’s videos. It is the biggest compliment of my life. I had never ever imagined in my life that a living legend like AR Rahman sir would compliment me. I will cherish this compliment for a lifetime. It was a kind of blessing for my sister and for me. My entire family was very happy and elated to hear it and I consider it an achievement."
Anjali also spoke about her dream come to moments from the show, when she met Pyarelal ji and legendary actress Rekha on the show, "It was my dream to meet many musical stalwarts and because of Indian Idol 12, I could see some of them. I got a chance to meet Pyarelal ji from Laxmikant Pyarelal Ji Jodi and it was my dream to meet him. It was a dream to meet him and perform in front of him. Also, when Rekha ma’am visited our show, throughout I felt I was dreaming as I was so mesmerised by her beauty. She loved my performance and she gave me a standing ovation. Not just that she came on the stage and took my hand and placed it on her head, it was an unbelievable moment. I couldn’t believe that it was happening for real. Unhone Meri nazar utaari and gave her blessings to me. It is the most memorable moment of my life. I felt that I was on cloud nine," she revealed.
Indian Idol 12 courted a few controversies recently and the contestants had to face trolling. Talking about the controversy and trolling surrounding the show, Anjali said, "I know we were criticised by people on social media, but I don’t look at it. I look at the love we got from the fans and the audience. We got blessings from everyone. I don’t want to name anyone but I know that people were commenting about a few contestants from us that they were not performing well. But I don’t look at it like that, all of us just ignored these comments. We were only concerned about our singing and we wanted to keep our focus on singing and not get distracted by these comments. It is not our job to look at these comments and get bothered. Our job is to entertain people with our singing, perform well and people should know us as good singers. I don’t look at these comments as I am not that active there, my only goal in life is to sing better. In fact, the other 8 contestants from Indian Idol 11 also feel the same and that’s the reason we never get nervous while performing or we never discuss or get worried. We don’t get hyper by these comments and our only aim in life is that we have got a platform like Indian Idol 11 and we should just focus on our singing. In the future I will do the same."
Anjali shared that none of the contestants are affected by the trolling and that they just focus on their singing, "I can say this on behalf of all the contestants that none of us got affected by the controversies or the negative comments. Also, the judges who came on the show and gave their opinion are legends and we respect them. Whatever the guests have commented is their opinion and we totally respect it. Our job is to consider their suggestions and improve our singing. I think ups and downs are part of life. Sometimes you get appreciation and there are times when you have to face criticism. Social media functions like that people sometimes go overboard in criticising someone but that’s fine, we are here to sing and give our best. If we have to go ahead in life, we have to ignore these comments and just focus on our goal which is singing," she shared.
The singer spoke on all the contestant's behalf that none of them were hurt with Amit Kumar's criticism after the Kishore Kumar episode and instead are working on his suggestions, "No, we were not disheartened when Amit Kumar ji said that he did not enjoy the episode and our singing. It is his opinion and he was our guest. We have to respect him. We respect his opinion and we have taken his suggestions. We have noted his suggestions and we are working on it. It was his opinion and everyone is entitled to give their opinion. We have just tried to improve our singing." said Anjali
The young girl aspires to playback for Bollywood star Deepika Padukone some day, "I would love to do playback singing for Deepika Padukone ma’am. I love her so much and I have watched all her movies," she concluded.
