Positive characters are too predictable: Vijayendra Kumeria

Vijayendra Kumeria

Perhaps, inspired by large number of literature and films, the show makers of small screen are showering us with many anti-heros in their dailies, these days.

The latest in the lot seems to be Vijayendra Kumeria of Shastri Sisters fame, who is all geared up with his new role as Suraj in Colors’ social drama Udann (Guroudev Bhalla & Dhaval Gada).

Vijayendra, who believes only in performance and hard work, have no regret for enacting a role of a negative lead.

In a heart to heart conversation, the young man opened up about his new character Suraj and shared some interesting stories about his casting. “I had given auditions for both Suraj and Vivaan’s role, but I found Suraj’s character to be more challenging. After doing a positive character like Rajat in Shastri Sisters, obviously as an actor, I would love to explore the possibilities in this new genre. As a performer what matters to me most is to test my skills in variety of roles and that is exactly the reason why I have opted for this role”.

We hope that you will charm your audience with equal élan, as you did during your previous show.

So, Vijayendra why do you think all the makers are over showering the viewers with so many anti-heros? After a thought, Vijayendra replied, “Positive characters on small screen are way too predictable. On the other hand, there are many possibilities to experiment with the anti-heros. That factor for sure attracts audiences to watch such characters on screen”.

As we continued chatting with Vijayendra, we discovered a responsible side of the actor. The man seems to be spreading the social message of fighting with social evils in real life as well apart from his soap opera. Vijayendra on a smile on his face shared, “I wholeheartedly believe that such issues should not be tolerated and any responsible, educated citizen should take a stand against such evils like child labour or bonded labour. At time we even notice such malpractices happening around us but we keep mum; which we shouldn’t do. I try to talk and aware the concerned people to stop such practices. And thankfully I once managed to convince a young boy from working and sent him to school”.

Well done Vijayendra. That’s call being human. Keep up the noble work.
