People are well aware of Lord Ram returning from exile which is why Diwali is celebrated. As a child, we all have heard about this story. What are your thoughts on this?
Yes, we all are aware of the story of Lord Ram returning from exile, and now, I’m fortunate to be part of the Ramayan myself. It’s been an incredible experience to see the entire story unfold in detail and to play a role in it. When I filmed scenes of Ram and Sita returning to Ayodhya—those scenes were unforgettable. During the shoot, when Sujay and I sat on the chariot, surrounded by people dancing, lights everywhere, and joy filling the atmosphere, it felt surreal. It gave me a glimpse of the immense happiness people must have felt when Lord Ram and Sita returned. Imagining that joy is beyond words, but somehow, I felt a part of it.
This is truly a significant moment, and we’ve been celebrating the story of Lord Ram since childhood. Diwali, one of my favourite festivals and it holds even more meaning now.
Your thoughts before taking up such an important character?
I was nervous and anxious because everyone already knew the story of the Ramayan, and most people had seen it before. So, I wasn’t sure how the audience would receive this version. Still, playing such an important character was a big opportunity for me, and it’s a role I truly wanted to bring to life.
How did you prepare yourself for this role?
We did several workshops before the shoot began and everything just fell into place naturally. I also read extensively about the Ramayana, particularly about Sita’s character. I focused on her journey—how she was, what she liked, what she didn’t like, and who she was as a person. That’s how I prepared for the role, and the rest just unfolded with time.
Shrimad Ramayan also has many other actors like Sanjay Reu, Basant Bhat, Nikitin Dheer, Nirbhay Wadhwa, Aarav Chowdhary, Shilpa Saklani and many more.
