He was Star's heartthrob with Kahiin To Hoga, but couldn't really set the Zee fires ablaze with Time Bomb.
Now, Rajeev Khandelwal, the nearest one could come to a phenomenon on Indian television, will join the CID team on Sony as ACP Prithviraj.
Rajeev will take over the mantle of the senior cop from ACP Pradyuman, played by Shivaji Satam, who will be shown suspended from the police force in the next episode of CID. Pradyuman faces the axe, thanks to his son Nakul (Rahil Azam), who's been charged for being part of an international terrorist group.
Pradyuman decides to side with his son, and this gets him suspended, on technical grounds, says the show's supervising producer Yash Patnaik. Whether Satam will stay off the show for long, or will be brought back, is not known. Satam himself was unavailable for comment. Satam has played ACP for the last eight years, ever since the inception of the show.
Whether Rajeev, who played chocolate hero in KTH and a sleuth in Time Bomb, will enjoy playing the new ACP for a long time, remains to be seen. Stay clued to this space for details.
