MUMBAI: The country will celebrate the festival of Dhanteras on October 18, marking not only the beginning of Diwali festivities but also a day believed to bring health, wealth, and prosperity. Traditionally, buying gold, silver, or utensils on this day is considered highly auspicious. Actress Shubhangi Atre, known for her role in Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hain!, is eagerly looking forward to purchasing some silver utensils this year.

Talking exclusively to TellyChakkar about the festival, Shubhangi said, "Dhanteras is on the 18th, and it’s said that on this day, you should either avoid buying anything or buy something useful like kitchen utensils, gold, silver, or anything that feels right for you. Every year, I make it a point to buy something. I believe in celebrating festivals because they bring a special kind of warmth and peace to the heart."

She added, "There’s something about that festive atmosphere; when you follow these small traditions, it makes you feel calm and happy inside."

Sharing a personal touch, Shubhangi mentioned that her mother used to buy something every year for Dhanteras. This time, she has decided to buy a silver glass, as it is believed that drinking water from silver is beneficial for health.

Shubhangi also described how she celebrates the festival at home. "I perform the puja, clean the house thoroughly, and prepare all the offerings myself," she said, emphasizing the personal involvement and devotion that make the festival meaningful for her.

Reflecting on how times have changed, Shubhangi observed, "Earlier, festivals were more simple; it was about spending quality time with family and friends, and there was a genuine sense of bonding. Now, it has become a bit commercial — everything seems more about show and consumerism. In a way, it’s fine, but somewhere, the real love and true essence of the festival are fading away."

For Shubhangi, Diwali and Dhanteras are ultimately about emotions. "It is that one time of the year when you clean your home with your own hands, decorate it with love, and prepare to welcome Goddess Lakshmi. That feeling of devotion and warmth is what means the most to me," she concluded.
