The first thing that struck my mind was Kamal Haasan's look from Chachi 420: Karan Suchak on playing a woman

Kamal Haasan

MU&MBAI: Several films have seen male actors pulling off a feminine role, yet the most iconic character that comes to our mind is the ‘Laxmi Bai’ of Chachi 420. Her perfect Maharashtrian style of dressing, coupled with Kamal Haasan’s uncanny ability to pull off a feminine look, undoubtedly has been the memorable character and an inspiration for many actors.

Joining this league will be our very own Akhilesh Pandey (Karan Suchak) from &TV’s Meri Hanikarak Biwi, who will bring a little surprise for the viewers this week with his new-found love for floral sarees and pastel coloured blouses. Resembling the memorable ‘chachi’, the actor will step aside from his regular attire of vibrant kurta-jeans and put up another notable performance with his new avatar as ‘Ganga Massi’. Upon discovering the various dangers looming over Ira and her family, Akhilesh will once again enter Ira’s life seeking for a job as a house helper in an attempt to keep a watch over her and do everything possible to keep Jia safe. Saving her from a threat to her life while standing by her side as her friend, Ganga Massi will also make Ira realize her true feelings for Akhilesh. Meanwhile, he also finds out Ira’s father, Vallabh is smitten by his new appearance as Ganga Massi.

Talking about playing a woman, Karan Suchak said, “I have never played a woman on television but when I heard the sequence, the first thing that struck my mind was the look of Kamal Haasan from Chachi 420. If an actor like him can it pull it off so well then why not take it up, test myself and surprise my fans. My transformation as Ganga Massi went through a rigorous procedure of deciding her style, look and dressing sense. At the end of the make-over, I was dressed in a light pink saree and mid-length hair and for once I couldnt believe it was me. The role was a real test for me, but gradually I felt confident about it and I hope the audience are equally excited to see me in a lady avatar.”

Bringing a bucket full of excitement for the viewers this week, Akhilesh’s road to win Ira’s love isn’t going to be an easy one. Will he be able to ever profess his love for her and tell her about the person behind this new identity?
