Mohit Dagga, who essays the role of Vitthal Jadhav in Zee TV’s popular show, Ek Mutthi Aasmaan (DJ’s – A Creative Unit) is happy that he has overcome his initial fear of taking up such an unconventional role in the show.
Says Mohit, “There were many friends of mine who created this fear within me about doing this role. However, after portraying the character of Vitthal for 10 months now, I would say that this has been my best role so far. I have never had the privilege of shooting for as many solo scenes in my career, as I have done for this show. I really do not know how the industry would see me once this show would get over. Having done a father’s role here, I do not know about the kind of roles that will be in offer in the future. But the overall journey has been overwhelming.”
Talking about his co-star and on-screen wife, essayed by Shilpa Shirodkar, he states, “It has been a privilege working with Shilpaji. I have enjoyed shooting for every frame in the show with her. I really do not know what happens when we both have scenes together. I always believe that there are good vibrations around when we shoot. Our scenes come out so very well, that it leaves me stupefied every time when I see them on-screen. I have enjoyed all the emotional scenes shot with Shilpaji; they have been the best till now. There was a scene recently wherein after the break-up of Kalpi’s marriage, Kamla and Vitthal sit together and have an emotional moment, at the end of which Vitthal breaks down emotionally. I can proudly say that whoever sees me in this scene will never neglect me as an actor.”
Ask him about the recent bashing of fans on Twitter soon after the break-up of Kalpi-Raghav (Aashish Chaudhary) wedding, and he explains, “See, I have this firm belief that Ek Mutthi Aasmaan is about all the characters in the show. It is not only about Ragna (Raghav –Kalpana) or Rakhi (Raghav – Paakhi). Every show is the result of the director’s vision, and viewers will have to see what he wants to portray. To tell you, there was this character of Dharmendra who was a driver. He appeared in few scenes only, but trust me, this man too had his share of fan following. So Ek Mutthi is about ‘many stars’ and never can one ‘taara’ complete the show. Also, this is a simple funda. The show would have nothing in it if Ragna had got united. So I guess the fans should take all this into observation before they protest.”
Very well said, Mohit!!
