The film marks the southern debut of Nawazuddin Siddiqui, who is rumoured to be playing Rajinikanth's friend.

In October, Rajinikanth tweeted that the shoot of Petta was wrapped up 15 days ahead of schedule and he thanked his director and producers for their support.

The title and motion poster of the film was released in September.

The entire motion poster - featuring Rajinikanth turning and walking in slow motion - unfolds inside a church.

In the film, Rajinikanth is rumoured to be playing a professor with a violent past.

Never quit Telugu industry for Bollywood, says Ileana D'Cruz

Actress Ileana D'Cruz, who has made a comeback to the Telugu industry after six years with the forthcoming film Amar Akbar Anthony, says she never quit her career in the south to build one in Bollywood.

In a group interaction, she told a leading publication that it wasn't a conscious decision to move away from Telugu filmdom.

"People have always had misconceptions about my career. After I signed Barfi, I was shocked to read reports that I have quit Telugu cinema for Bollywood. These were baseless allegations and it's time to put them to rest. Why will I give up an industry which has given me an identity," Ileana asked.

In 2012, she made her Bollywood debut with Ranbir Kapoor's Barfi!, which was followed by films such as Phata Poster Nikla Hero, Happy Ending, Rustom, Baadshaho and Raid.

"When I was shooting for Julayi, I got an offer to work in Barfi!. It was a project with an interesting story and I didn't want to miss. I even consulted exploring the opportunity with director Trivikram and he was very happy for me. Even without knowing anything about my role, he pushed me to accept the offer," she said, adding she got so busy in Bollywood post Barfi!, she had to miss out on several Telugu offers.

"It's just that I was getting really good work in Bollywood that I didn't have time for Telugu films. Also, after a point I was being approached for dance numbers by Telugu filmmakers and I was not excited about these offers. Therefore, I waited for the right film to return and that's how Amar Akbar Anthony happened," she clarified.

In Sreenu Vaitla directed Amar Akbar Anthony, Ileana has teamed up with Ravi Teja for the fourth time.

Talking about the project, she said, "There couldn't have been a better Telugu film to make a comeback. It has all the ingredients to be your regular commercial potboiler and has a wonderful story. For the first time, I've played a complex role with many layers. I've also dubbed in my own voice in Telugu."

Ileana says she wants to do films that will be remembered for a long time.

"I started my career when I was 20 and over the years have done all kinds of films. Now I'm 32, and there is remarkable change in my thought process and personality. I have been making some sensible choices and I want it to reflect in the films I do. I want to be part of films that will be remembered for a long time," she said.

As the conversation veered towards her personal life and relationship status, she said she's in a happy space.

"I have evolved as a person and I'm neither pregnant nor married. After coping with depression, I have become mentally strong. My working relationship with people has also changed for good. I know I'm happy with my relationship status and I'd like to keep it that way," she added.

Asked to comment on the #MeToo movement and how it has gained momentum, she said that it's time to break the silence.

"I am glad women are opening up even though we know it's very scary. Small things can make a lot of difference and this is a good start," she said, refusing to talk about her personal experiences. "It's best if we don't go there. When I want to talk about it, I will."

He also has a yet-untitled Tamil fantasy comedy with director Ramkumar.

In his recent chat with a leading publication, Ramkumar discussed the project.

Not a worry that there is no star in Pihu, says Siddharth Roy Kapur

Film producer Siddharth Roy Kapur, who is gearing up for the release of his forthcoming production venture Pihu, says that there is no worry that the film doesn’t feature an established star.

Siddharth Roy Kapoor was interacting with media to promote Pihu along with film's director Vinod Kapri on Tuesday, here.

Pihu features Myra Vishwakarma, a two year old girl in the title role who gets trapped inside her house with no escape.

When asked whether the makers of the film are worried about the film because it doesn't feature any established star, Kapur said, "It's not a worry that there is no star in the film. We have done many films in the past without stars as well. While we love working with stars, we are happy to do a great story without a star too and in this case genuinely the two year old is a star because in the first two minutes of the film, you fall in love with her.

"Once you are in love with her, you want to know what happens with her and that's what a star does to you right. A star engages you, excites you and makes you fall in love with them and I think Pihu really manages to do that in the first two minutes of the film."

The trailer of Pihu has collectively managed to cross 8 million views on social media.

Talking about the response to the trailer of the film, Kapur said, "We are very happy with the response to the trailer of the film and it's very nice to see a film with the two-year-old kid as the lead protagonist is generating excitement among the audience.

"I think all credit goes to Vinod (Kapri) for making such a wonderful film for which a trailer like that could be cut and that's the idea of the trailer to be able to excite people, make them want to go to cinemas to watch it so, we hope that Pihu's trailer has managed to do that."

Asked what made him become the producer and presenter of this film, he said, "Actually Vinod and I were discussing another film together and which we are still discussing, right now it's under development. In course of that discussion, he told me that I have made a film called Pihu and I told him that I would love to watch it and then he arranged a special screening of the film for me and my team."

Pihu is a drama thriller film written and directed by Vinod Kapri and jointly produced by Ronnie Screwvala, Siddharth Roy Kapur and Shilpa Jindal.

It will release theatrically on 16 November 2018.

Need for stories of stronger women: Yami

Actress Yami Gautam, who will next be seen in the upcoming film Uri, says there is a need for stories of more stronger women on the silver screen.

Yami is excited to be a part of a real-life story based on the armed forces. So much so, that it instantly inspired her to hope to bring forth stories of women who have been trailblazers and pioneers in the armed forces in India.

“With the way content is evolving and such compelling stories coming out, there's a great need for stories of more stronger women. Some amazingly strong powerful women characters have been seen in recent films," Yami said in a statement.

The 29-year-old actress is inspired by two women Punita Arora, the first woman in India to attain the rank of Lt. General in the Indian Army and Priya Jhingan who wrote a letter to the then Army Chief in 1992 to be accepted as a woman in the armed forces and a year later she was, becoming the first Indian woman to have joined the Army.

Yami said that when she was shooting for Uri, she was very intrigued largely with the stories of personnel from the armed forces.

She said, "It truly does make me wonder if stories of women from such background are something that could make for compelling stories. We have incredible women heroes from the army, navy who have done incredible acts in their careers.

"I think these stories must be done and Uri has really been a reason to bring forth such a thought to me."

Uri also stars Vicky Kaushal, who will be seen playing the role of an Indian commando who is involved in the 2016 surgical strikes.

Based on the surgical strikes of 2016 carried out by the Indian Armed Forces, Uri traces the significant event.
