Dibakar worried about Swastika's REPUTATION after shoplifting controversy

director Dibakar Banerjee and Swastika Mukherjee
Swastika's shoplifting accusation in Singapore has already added an extra dimension to her already controversial image. The actress who was a part of the 35 people strong contingent that travelled to Singapore to attend the Darpan Film Festival was reportedly caught on CCTV stealing jewelry from a store in Singapore. The incident caused considerable embarrassment to the delegates and the jewellery store owner even issued a formal letter of theft against the actress. Swastika who is no stranger to controversy and has already created ripples in the Bengali film industry for her bold image and romantic dalliances with a A-list Bengali actor sure caught the attention of the industrywallahs after this alleged act. While some are worried that the incident could affect the prospects of her debut movie, Detective Byomkesh Bakshy, director Dibakar Banerjee does not feel that the controversy will mar his film in any manner. Dibakar, sources say is confident about his product but is worried that Swastika’s reputation may have taken a beating and he feels it's a very unfortunate incident. Says Dibakar, “I don’t think anything can go against the film. So I don’t think we should think about that. Rather, we should worry about the incident and the reputation of the actor. This incident is unfortunate and I hope it gets resolved amicably as soon as possible.”
